Christine Feehan Fangirl moment
Thursday, October 9th, 2008

I love paranormals. Everything about them. I love to read them and I love writing them even more. There is one woman I can thank singlehandedly for this…and that’s Christine Feehan.

About three years ago I went to the local library and perused the paperback section. A title caught my eye. Dark Prince. I picked it up, read the back blurb and took it home. I read it in one day, I remember I just couldn’t put it down. Lucky for me it was the first in a series and over the next several weeks I went back to the library and checked out every single one that they had. the ones they didn’t have, I went out and bought until I was caught up to her latest. I also discovered her mind game series and the Drake sisters.

I love her writing. About a year and a half ago, when I decided to try the whole writing thing seriously, there was no question as to what I would write. Dark paranormals.

And now here I am, my own book deal in hand and yes, I can honestly say I’m not sure I would be here if I hadn’t picked up a copy of Dark Prince three years ago. Seriously.

So, it was my greatest pleasure to have been able to have dinner with Christine Feehan in SanFransisco, along with the lovely Brenda Novak. In fact, as luck would have it, I got to sit in between the two of them. (and all of this would not have happened if not for the lovley Lauren Hawkeye and the Brenda Novak diabetes auction)

Christine was a lovely woman. Funny, charming and very generous with her sage words of advice in regards to all things that go along with the craziness of publication.

So, yeah I’ve got a bit of girlcrush on her and yesterday when she emailed me, I had a “moment”…it was a simple email, a congrats on my recent sale and well wishes for continued success.

But it was from Christine Feehan!!!! I’ve printed it out….I keep looking at it…..and I will continue to have a girlcrush on this woman for many years to come!

so what about you? anyone you have a girlcrush on? or have you ever met someone who inspired you along the road to publication?

Oh, yes! I have a girlcrush on Jeaniene Frost (and a lifetime one on la Nora…LOL) and Michelle Rowen continually inspires me because she’s always been so nice in answering my fangirl-y emails.

Jules, I "know" you from eharl. Love your blog…and congrats on your success! Can’t wait to read your books. :)

I can see why you have the crush going on…man, I was tongue tied, well, only for a few minutes…when I met Christine, but she was so sweet!

Jules, How awesome Christine Feehan emailed you! Just more proof of what a nice person she is.
I had always loved dark paranormals before there were very popular and I sort of stopped looking for them when they were so hard to find. I guess when they started becoming more popular I missed out because I had stopped looking for them. LOL. Then I stumbled on Feehan’s Carpathians and Kenyon’s Dark Hunters series. I did the same – checked every one out of the library until I had devoured both series. Those books were one of the major factors that inspired me to start writing again. I also love the Ghostwalkers too.
As for inspiration, of course those authors inspire me to write what I love, but watching you on this road as your dreams are starting to be realized has been very inspiring to me.

    Hey Linda!
I have to agree…Christine is very prolific…I love all her series, but the Carpathians are my fave, followed by ghostwalkers and then the Drake’s…she did write a leopard shifter, Wild Rain which I loved to pieces….It’s what inspired me to write my jags….I think she’s writing some more in that series….if you haven’t read it Linda, pick it up for sure! And what the hell are you doing hanging out here…get that spice polished and out the door woman!

OK mom…you’re gonna make me cry! Thanks so much, and I think it was all the romance novels I took from your stash when I was probably way too young to read them, that got me hooked! See you tonight! Rock ON!

I started a story about wolves not long ago, actually, but haven’t finished it yet. Now I’m revising my 2nd Blaze targeted MS, and next month I’ll be doing my third as part of NaNoWriMo. This will be my first year trying it. Are you doing NaNo? If so, my handle’s Silvernightmoon on there, too. :)

And I’ve never tried the NaNo thingy….I’m working on a YA right now until I get my revisions for the first jag book….I should try it and see if it get my book done by the end of November! Good luck with it!
