The Next Step
Friday, February 27th, 2009

I had an email from my editor yesterday and looks like I’m chugging along just fine on my road to publication. Most of you know, (and if you don’t) that this is my first book, I’m a total newbie and every single step I take on this journey is new and exciting. Everything…I mean, I was so siked for revisions and enjoyed them immensely. It meant that, hell yeah, I’m a writer!

The revisions I turned into Esi were, and I quote “So….DARK REVENGE. Love. It. :)
You did an amazing job with the revisions and the story is so much stronger now (not that it wasn’t strong before).” Yeah me! Wow…passed that test!

So, now I’m waiting for the cute delivery dude to hand me over my line edits etc and then it will be done! Finito! (see, I’m still on Mexican time!)

The thing that really got me pumped was that Esi told me, ahem, that we will be discussing COVERS soon! EEK! A cover for little old me! I’m now dreaming covers, lucious sexy covers with a hot dude and a jag.

Anyway, this is the latest for me…..and other than that I’m working on my YA and hope to have it turned in to my agent by mid March, third week at the latest……we shall see!

Hope you all have a great weekend….and if you have any ideas for a cool cover for my book, please let me know!

Back From the Land of the Sun
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Ola!
I’m fresh in from Mexico. A little darker, a little heavier and a whole lot rested. What an amazing place to go. I’ve never been before but would go back in a heartbeat. Beautiful resort, wonderful and friendly people and an endless supply of food, booze water and sun!

So I’m well rested and as soon as I wade through the huge pile of laundry, and get some food into this house I’m very energized and ready to get back into my writing.

Did I get anything done while I was gone? NO! I took my laptop but only used it to download the endless barrage of pictures my husband took. I’ll try to upload a few, but since I’m lame when it comes to most things computer I need to email my web dude because I have no clue how to upload a picture!

What I did do was read. And I realized how much I miss reading a good book. I haven’t taken the time lately for that but in between all the beer, tequila and food I read three books.

Here’s the rundown…Kiss of Fate by Deborah Cooke was a wonderful read. The world she’s created is intriguing and her descriptions of London made me feel like I was there. If you’re into sexy dragon shifters than this is the series for you. Kiss of Fate is the third book and I believe there will be three more.

I also read a Battlestar Gallactica book and thoroughly enjoyed it. LIke a lot. I already have the visuals in mind because I’m a huge fan of the show but it was well done and I loved it. Gonna miss my BG when it’s all done!

So, I see I missed a lot of cold weather and more snow and even though Mexico was amazing it is good to be back. I’m determined to get my YA finished within three to four weeks so I need to get cracking on that. But the spark is there.

So what does everyone else to do recharge their batteries?

Going on Vacation……..
Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Yep. It’s true. I’m feeling the need to spread my wings and head to the land of endless margaritas! Sun, sand and relaxation are the order of the day and maybe a few ice cold coronas too! We shall see!

It’s been a long week though, I’ve been on the road for the man most of it and haven’t written a word. Yes, that’s right….not one word. It was kinda stressful for me to realize that but I had to sit back and take a deep breath and tell myself that it’s ok. I can have the odd week or two with shitty word count. I know that when push comes to shove I can produce and sometimes the “real life” intrudes and needs attention as much as my writing.

So, I’m cool with that. Gonna go away and soak up some sun, relax and try not to gain too much weight because truthfully, I just fit my ass into my summer clothes after a long cold winter and there ain’t much room to spare!

I will be taking my lap top and hope to do a couple posts while I’m gone. We’ll see, but I will try to get some writing done (while I’m relaxing and sipping on a margarita) and for sure a lot of reading. I’m taking along, Kiss of Fate by Deborah Cooke, Stolen Fury by Elisabeth Naughton (I need to finish this great book) and I bought myself a Battlestar Gallactica book. Don’t know if it will be any good but Jamie Bamber sure looks hot on the cover! I also have At Graves End by Jeaniene Frost…..so I’m good to go.

I hope you all have an amazing week filled with lots of word count, and um, depending where you live….Lots of freaking snow! LOL…just kidding! I do hope when I return spring will have magically sprung…..although I doubt it!

talk soon peeps!

Who watches TV anymore?
Monday, February 9th, 2009

I just realized something. I hardly watch television anymore. Like this is a bit of a shock, because I used to be a tv hog. Every single night of the week, there was one or two shows that were must sees. And now? It’s pretty much dwindled down to Grey’s Anatomy and Supernatural, which fill in my Thursday night…..and that’s about it other than Law and Order SVU on Tuesdays.

Wow, this is really shocking. Because the following is a list of shows I watched every single week. I’ll start with Sunday.

-Cold Case. Loved this show and cried every episode.
-Heros and CSI Miami and 24
-Law and Order SVU
-Law and Order, Lost
-Grey’s Anatomy and ER and CSI
-Ghost Whisperer

and now I’m down to three. But, the reason for this is that I’ve totally gotten into my writing and spend most of my evenings either reading or writing. So, while I”m still parking my butt on the couch, I’m not indulging in televison anyomore. Looking over my list though, I think I could be pursuaded to watch at least a good comedy now and again. The office is ok, but I used to adore Everybody loved Raymond. Where is that dude?

So, what’s everbody’s television habits? What shows can you not live without? And are you watching more or less?

Weekend Musings…………
Friday, February 6th, 2009

Yippee! It’s friday and the sun is shining, which here in SW Ontario is a very good thing. Too bad it’s so freaking cold out there…but relief is on the way. Warmer temps tomorrow.

So, a few things. First off what is everybody reading? I’m currently reading Murder Game by Christine Feehan ( and ya, I’m a huge fan girl). In my TBR pile, is AT Graves End by Jeaniene Frost, and Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. FYI !

Now I’m going to talk a bit about a few things that kinda pissed me off over the last several days. The first one is about authors who feel the need to aggressivley “put out there” their moral judgement in regards to other author’s works. Look, I don’t care if you write sweet romance, or Inspirational romance. As long as there is a good story there….that’s great. But please, don’t disrespect authors that write erotica, or erotic romance or whatever and shout out that, Hey, I can’t read that crap and have those images in my mind….it’s a moral issue to me. Ya know what? I don’t care why you don’t want to read or why you CAN’T read it. But when you say things like that you’re basically insulting all authors of erotica and the legion of fans who enjoy reading erotica. Or erotic romance. Or whatever. Just be gracious and return the book. K?

Now, onto Mr. Steven King. well, I like him. I really do. I’m not a huge King fan but have read my fair share and enjoy his work. I also devoured the Harry Potter series and think JK Rowling is a great writer. Apparently Mr. King thinks the same thing. I’ve read all the Twilight books as well. And except for the last one, quite enjoyed the entire series. I mean, I did like the last book, I just thought it didn’t live up to my expectaions. But that’s just me. I do think that Stephanie Meyer tells a great story. And yes, I think she’s a good writer. Apparently Mr. King disagrees.

Here’s my problem. I personally think it shows a severe lack of class for someone like SK to make these kinds of comments in a public forum. I think it’s tactless and plain awful to trash fellow authors this way and well, Shame on King.

Really.

in the words of some of my fellow Bradford babes…..he was being a douche bag.

So, what are your thoughts? What’s on your mind? and what are you reading?

Wednesday night musings.
Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

All right. This is going to be one of those random posts that contains a little bit of this, and a little bit of that. I think I’ll put my thoughts into point form so they don’t seem too confusing.

1. It’s Wednesday and I just finished watching American Idol. After not watching it last year, I totally got sucked into the whole humiliating auditon process and they’ve pretty much got me for the rest of the season. Side note, I’m a singer myself and Simon is 99% right. He just has no tact when delivering his opinion.
2. Just registered for Nationals and have my hotel confirmation in hand. Washington look out!
3. I believe in karma. Good and bad. If you’re a nasty piece of work, eventually Bad things will happen to you. I really believe this and if you own a multi-million dollar company and you lay off a single mom of two boys, with a mortgage and bills, when you could easily have layed off a single dude who rents a room somewhere, well, bad things will happen to you. Side note. said single mom trained dude who rents room.
4. I don’t care what the differences are betwen erotic romance, or erotica, or inspy romance and sweet romance. I think I’d like to read a good book on my own and decide. and if I don’t want to judge it? send the freaking book back. Really, I don’t give a shit. AT all. And I really don’t need to read 765 posts about it. For real.
5. I think Kate Douglas is one cool lady.
6. I didn’t win the lottery last week. Just sayin.
7. I am leaving for Mexico in a week and a half and can’t wait to get away. This Canadian winter has been brutal.

So, that’s my hump day brain mush and now I need to get on with it and write some more of my YA.

What news or thoughts would anyone like to share?
