Yippee! It’s friday and the sun is shining, which here in SW Ontario is a very good thing. Too bad it’s so freaking cold out there…but relief is on the way. Warmer temps tomorrow.
So, a few things. First off what is everybody reading? I’m currently reading Murder Game by Christine Feehan ( and ya, I’m a huge fan girl). In my TBR pile, is AT Graves End by Jeaniene Frost, and Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. FYI !
Now I’m going to talk a bit about a few things that kinda pissed me off over the last several days. The first one is about authors who feel the need to aggressivley “put out there” their moral judgement in regards to other author’s works. Look, I don’t care if you write sweet romance, or Inspirational romance. As long as there is a good story there….that’s great. But please, don’t disrespect authors that write erotica, or erotic romance or whatever and shout out that, Hey, I can’t read that crap and have those images in my mind….it’s a moral issue to me. Ya know what? I don’t care why you don’t want to read or why you CAN’T read it. But when you say things like that you’re basically insulting all authors of erotica and the legion of fans who enjoy reading erotica. Or erotic romance. Or whatever. Just be gracious and return the book. K?
Now, onto Mr. Steven King. well, I like him. I really do. I’m not a huge King fan but have read my fair share and enjoy his work. I also devoured the Harry Potter series and think JK Rowling is a great writer. Apparently Mr. King thinks the same thing. I’ve read all the Twilight books as well. And except for the last one, quite enjoyed the entire series. I mean, I did like the last book, I just thought it didn’t live up to my expectaions. But that’s just me. I do think that Stephanie Meyer tells a great story. And yes, I think she’s a good writer. Apparently Mr. King disagrees.
Here’s my problem. I personally think it shows a severe lack of class for someone like SK to make these kinds of comments in a public forum. I think it’s tactless and plain awful to trash fellow authors this way and well, Shame on King.
Really.
in the words of some of my fellow Bradford babes…..he was being a douche bag.
So, what are your thoughts? What’s on your mind? and what are you reading?

Hey Jules,
You know, I just saw the Stephen King article on Pink Hearts. I’ve not read any Meyer – it’s on my to do list. But because of his comments, he’s just bumped her up! I agreed with him on Rowling. Now I just HAVE to see what he’s on about. Maybe he’s really giving her a beautiful big plug – he’s just using reverse psychology.
Or:- I wonder if you get so rich, so famous and so jaded that you just don’t care what you say anymore…
Maybe he’s back on the wagon?!

elove. It was an interview in a magazine and he was just really trashing Stephanie Meyer. Really, I don’t give a shit who you are, I just think, bottom line it’s in bad taste talk trash about a fellow author. dunno, IMO.

I saw this on the YARWA loop and this was what I said…
Writing may be a calling, a passion, etc, but it is also a profession. As with any profession you should act in a professional manner. And to me at least this means that there are opinions you express in public, and opinions you save to express with your close friends and family away from a public type forum.
I don’t begrudge him his opinion. Just wish he wouldn’t bash other writers in public. I’ve always enjoyed King. I happen to enjoy Meyer as well.
Writer’s bashing other writers’ books, lives. and even, ahem, websites, in public is just unnecessary and unprofessional.

Yep, Linda…totally no class at all. I think it’s in poor form and like I said in my post, shame on King!

What am I reading….I have Murder Game on my Ipod touch but I haven’t started it yet. I need to finish Mercury’s War and get some grades posted to the online system (I teach 7th grade).
I did just finish the Nocturne Dragon’s Lair last week and it was pretty good!

Oh, I saw that Nocturne in the store last week. The cover looked very nice…was hesitant though, as I’ve not been overly fussy on the last few Noc’s I’ve read, save for Vivi’s. But I think I’ll pick it up now that I know you enjoyed it! You should try Deborah Cooke’s Dragon series….they’re smoking hot!

It was a good read – although it wasn’t what I thought it was going to be about from the title. It was more about wizards, not dragons really. I was hoping for some sexy dragon shifters, lol. Maybe in her next one.
