Monday Musings and Back to School
Monday, March 23rd, 2009

It’s Monday. Thank the gods above. AND, more importantly my kiddies are back in school. Where they belong. I mean, March break is always busy but this year I had two different hockey tournaments one an hour away and the other across the border. We had hockey every day, and while I loved watching my kid kick butt out there, I have to admit a few times my mind would wander. I just have way too many things to get done…for the dude and this damn YA is gonna kill me but I”m getting to the final stage with it, so wish me luck.

So that’s the plan. Write my butt off. Walk the dog. Get stuff done for the dude.

I’ve also decided I don’t read enough. I totally loved the time spent reading while I was in Mexico, but here at home, I just don’t make enough time for it. That is going to change and it started last night. I picked up a historical…The Bride of a Wicked Scotsman by Samantha James. The cover was delightful and I was just in the mood. I read it last night in one big gulp and on the whole quite enjoyed it.

The heroine Maura was cute and the hero Alec, was my kinda guy. Tall, dark and hot. I thought something was missing, and I”m still not sure what. Maybe she was too cute? dunno. It ended rather abruptly for me, I would have preferred a tad more conflict before the end,but all in all it was enjoyable. I will definitely pick up another historical…I forgot how much I enjoyed reading them in the past.

And, well I’m so excited because City of Glass by Cassandra Clare comes out this weekend and I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on that baby! And I bought the first two book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I totally loved the HBO adaption, True Blood and decided to give the books a whirl. We’ll see but I’m hoping that they’re as good if not better than the television series.

So, that’s about it in my corner of the world. Hope you’re all being productive out there!

And lastly, on a Squeeee note…..my good friend Suzanne Rock has just sold her first novella to Loose Id. The book, called Cursed will be a June 2009 release. Kudos to her and look for more stuff from this talented author!

Hey Jules, I hear you on needing to just kick back and read! It’s hard to make the time, but it’s what got us all into this business to begin with. And big congratulations to Suzanne! I know from her posts on SubCare that she’s been persevering for a while, and this must feel wonderful! :)

Oh, and you’d mentioned meeting Michelle Rowen at TRW a while back. I’m interviewing her on my blog today, if you’re interested. ;)
