Wow I can’t belive that my first ever print book, His Darkest Hunger will be released 5 weeks tomorrow. I am humbled, scared, thrilled and anxious. Yeah, doesn’t feel so good in my belly mixed together like some kind of maniacal soup.
Nontheless it’s the last year and a half has both flown by and crawled at certain times. In this business, the wonderful business of publishing, there are lulls and then there are times when you are crazy busy trying to get everything done. I love all of it. Every singe painful, wonderful part of it.
I worked hard on a manuscript that Laura Bradford believed in, that my editor at Avon, Esi Sogah, believed in and it’s about to be released to the masses. Does this make me nervous? Hell yeah. When you put yourself out there, you open yourself up to ridicule, criticism and worse. But, you also get that warm glow from a great review, from the words of encouragement that your writer friends are so very free with.
And if things go well, you get to see your words bring joy to many, many people. Before my life gets bogged down with all the craziness, and because I was lame and didn’t get this stuff into the first book (rest assured it’s all in the second) These are the people I want to thank
My husband and kids for living in filth, with piles of laundry and leftovers several days in a row. You guys mean the world to me and your support and encouragement has been awesome.
To my mom and dad, especially my mom, whose love of words brought me the world of boosk that I enjoyed from a young age. I love you and am lucky to call you mine.
To my crit partners and fellow Sirens, Lauren, who told me that rules were meant to be broken, Nini who was brave enough to read my stuff for before anyone else did. To Amanda for her wit, biting sarcasm and great eye for detail, LInda for your kind words and always cheerful manner. Barbara C, for her great attitude, Suzanne for her wonderful flow charts and graphs and amazing knowledge of promo, and to the newer Sirens, Barbara H and Dara, you ladies are indeed talented and very cool.
To my agent and Editor, you guys rock. To Avon for being such an amazing house, I’m so blessed to have signed with you. To Tom the god of covers….(and you should see book number 2!)
And lastly, I have to thank all the wonderful Bradford Bunch ladies, especially lauren, Ann, Megan and Elisabeth…you guys are always there to answer any insane question that I have…..
Oh yes, and Christine Feehan…..thank you for writing the Carpathian series….it totally changed my world.
that is all
