A Few of my Favourite Things…
Saturday, December 18th, 2010

Wow a week from now I’ll be sitting in my jammies, sipping a flavoured coffee watching the kiddies open their prezzies. I can’t believe how fast Christmas snuck up on us. Or maybe it’s just me…the Queen of procrastination….

I just find this time of year to be so incredibly busy that I need to make myself slow down and enjoy. Next to Thanksgiving, Christmas is my favourite time of year. It’s all about family and hanging out enjoying each others company. I’ve been so busy and have neglected my blog, but I thought I’d share some of my favourite Christmas things and would love to hear yours as well.

-my favourite christmas gift I ever recieved was many years ago when I got a Cher barbie doll complete with a couple of the Bob Mackie designer duds. My fave of those being the Cherokee outfit. My god how I loved her long hair, long lashes and long painted fingernails.

-I love watching my children open their gifts. They’re still young enough to be really excited (well at least the female child is my male child tries to act cool about EVERYTHING these days), so sadly, the mystery of Santa is no longer.

-my favourtie Christmas movie, traditional…It’s a Wonderful Life. Non-traditional, Elf. Okay, can I just say that if I could have my very own Buddy I’d adopt him in a heartbeat.

-Fave christmas songs….. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, as sung by The Pretenders. O Holy Night-Josh Grobin, Something about Christmas Time, Brian Adams.

-I love real trees at Christmas though we actually have a fake. I couldnt’ turn down the pre lit tree my mother offered up. It does look very pretty but sadly, it’s not the same….you can’t reproduce the smell!

-my fave decorations are the ones my kids made. I have them all, from jr. kindergarten up to grade 6 when they stopped brigning them home. (I love how my princess moved her brother’s to the back of the tree and made sure hers all faced out in the front..LOL)

-I love sweet potato. I love sweet potato balls….that is all.

-I haven’t been to a candle lit midnight mass in years, but love them. I should go.

-I love rum and eggnog….don’t care that there’s a million calories involved and don’t ever give me the fat free egg nog. YUCK.

These are just a few of the things that I love about the holidays….. So, if you celebrate Christmas what are yours? I’d love to hear and in the meantime, Merry Christmas and have a safe holiday season with your family and all the people who mean something to you.
