Goodbye 2011…
Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Wow. It’s New Year’s Eve in my part of the world and here I sit, looking out the window at melting snow, fog and a world of gray. As a Canuk I’ve always loved snow, but I’ll admit that as I get older the less of it I see the better I feel, though it’s nice to have around at Christmas time. This year we got our snowfall the day AFTER Christmas and um, I’m not unhappy that its leaving us already!

At this time of the year I like to look back at what I’ve achieved, what I didn’t achieve…what I enjoyed and made me freak out. Thought I’d share…

This past year I wrote two fulls and a novella. I also worked on a super sekret project with a close author friend that I can’t talk about or you’ll have to kill me. At first glance it doesn’t seem like much to me, but when you throw in revisions, copy edits and what not I’m pleased. I basically took the summer off from writing which I needed and considering what’s in store for me next year…uh, I’m glad I did!

I sold more books in my new series, League of Guardians and achieved a goal I’ve had for a few years…selling into another genre. I’m so thrilled to have sold a contemporary romance series and will be uber pumped when they’re released in 2013.

Family wise, my kids grew like weeds. Mini me is a young lady now and while I’m excited (kinda) about this next step, um, she’s in my closet constantly and my makeup drawer. I’m not so much excited about that. My son is navigating the teen world he lives in and doing it with grace, pinache and respect for himself and his friends, especially the female types. It is so important for young men to respect the women in their lives.

My fave song: Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People. Loved this song and every time I hear it I think of McCurdy and baseball with the Mudslides!

My fave book: I’m going to cheat. I have a couple. The one that might edge out a bit is Dream a Little Dream by Susan Elisabeth Phillips. I can’t tell you enough about the emotional experience I had reading this book. Most tortured hero EVER.

All of the Fever books by Karen Marie Moning. I read them all over about a month this past summer and um, Jericho Barrons, most alhpa sexiest yummiest frustrating hero EVER.

Fave movie: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was just so sad to see this end. I will say that I’m going to see War Horse next week and I think it could have edged out Harry if I’d seen it this week. I’m always up for a Horse movie.

Fave television Show: Okay, I’m going to cheat again because I have 2 that I just couldn’t live without. Game of Thrones and Vampire Diaries. Yes, Vampire Diaries..um, Damon anyone?

So, I think that pretty much covers it! Share with me what you accomplished….what your faves are! I love reading this stuff!

Oh, and Happy New Year….may the coming year bring you all you deserve and more!

    Hi Juliana,
My year was pretty much the norm, taking care of family, trying to find time to write and searching for part-time work. Was nearly ready to give up on the writing and job hunting when something inspired me and I started UNWRAPPING ROMANCE at the end of Sept … can’t believe how well it’s done in so short a time. I was even inspired to share an excerpt from my WIP on it, when everyone gave me such great inspiring feedback, I knew I should finish it – my New Year’s resolution, to finish both my books and PUBLISH!
My faves this year are many – fave movie – AVATAR (seen it too many times to count, it’s an artistic beauty), fave TV show(s) STRIKE BACK, GAME OF THRONES, TRUE BLOOD, CASTLE and the BIG BANG THEORY (yep, love those nerds) and my fave book (s), let’s see MY DARKEST SALVATION (yes!), THE COUNTESS by Lynsay Sands (love all her Argeneaus, too), read nearly all the Feral Warrior series by Pamela Palmer while at the beach for a week and am so addicted, I need more.
Can’t wait for WICKED ROAD TO HELL, Juliana … I am already so hooked on it, KING OF THE DAMNED, too – thanks to your teasers. LOL!!
Happy New Year and may 2012 be your best yet! <3
